Day 4 highlights
Prasidh Krishna bowled just eight overs for Karnataka against MP, before suffering from his latest injury. He was named as one India's reserves for the Tests against New Zealand. But for the moment, he seems headed towards another recovery period.
Both Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan had lost their BCCI contracts. While Iyer also played in the Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup before the Ranji Trophy, his highest score in ten first-class innings this season is 57. In Mumbai's defeat against Baroda, Iyer fell for 0 and 30. Kishan, meanwhile, captained Jharkhand against Assam, but managed just 21 and 16. So neither has a notable score to attract the national selectors' attention yet.
Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran has scores of 157*, 116, 191 and 127* in his six first-class innings this domestic season. He averages 153.75 so far in 2024-25, making his case for an India call-up more solid with every game. Remember, Rohit Sharma is doubtful for the first Test against Australia. So it could be Easwaran's chance to shine.
