An attacking strokemaker and occasional offspinner, Danni Wyatt looked to have finally found her calling when she was promoted to open the batting for England's T20I team in late 2017. Two innings into her new role, she blitzed 100 off 57 balls as England chased down 179 in Canberra, and on their new tour, to India in early 2018, she hammered 124 off 64 to overhaul a target of 199 in Mumbai.

But after a consistent couple of years - and a long-overdue first ODI hundred against Pakistan in Malaysia - the runs dried up again in 2020; she turned 30 with pressure on her place in the side across formats.

Wyatt first represented Staffordshire aged 14 in 2005, and made her ODI and T20 debuts for England in March 2010 against India. Then an allrounder, she hit 28 not out in her first ODI innings, and by the one-day series against Australia in early 2011 had been promoted to open the innings. She remained as opener for the 2013 World Cup, and hit 40 against eventual finalists West Indies in England's group match, helping her side finish 3rd overall in the competition. However, she was subsequently dropped down the order and did not find favour with the selectors in the longer formats of the game, being left out of the Test and ODI sides for the 2013 Ashes series, as well as the 2014 ODI series against India.

A right-arm offbreak bowler, she bowled very little at international level between 2013 and 2016 as she attempted to remodel her action. However, her superb fielding and power hitting in domestic cricket - her strike rate in the 2015 Women's County Championship was 136.13 - kept her in contention for an England spot and she was included in the 2016 World Twenty20 squad, batting at 6.

Having moved to Nottinghamshire from Staffordshire in 2013, she signed for Sussex at the start of the 2016 season. The following summer, she was part of England's World Cup-winning squad, though lost her place in the side midway through the tournament. Wyatt was frustratingly inconsistent in T20 World Cups, averaging 15.80 in the 2018 edition and managing 47 runs in four innings in 2020.
